Dear Scheller Community,
At the expense of sounding repetitive, it has been one stellar month since my last update. This was especially evident during our energizing faculty and staff retreats last month, where our collective creativity and dedication were on full display.
Our undergraduate business program was recently ranked No. 19 in the nation by U.S. News & World Report, with five specialties in the top 10: Analytics, Management Information Systems, Quantitative Analysis, Production/Operations Management, and Supply Chain Management. These results speak volumes about the incredible talent of our students, faculty, and staff who continually push the bar higher.
Equally encouraging are the latest career outcomes for our B.S. in Business Administration graduates. Within three months of graduation, 90% of our students secured full-time roles, earning an average salary of $82,722 with an average signing bonus of $9,003. Graduates landed positions at more than 160 employers, including Amazon, Delta Air Lines, McKinsey & Company, KPMG, Microsoft, The Home Depot, BlackRock, and more.
Our efforts to introduce new interdisciplinary programs have been fruitful. The Fintech minor, developed in partnership with the College of Computing, already enrolls more than 200 students and produced its first graduates last semester. Whether it’s blockchain, digital banking, or algorithmic trading, our students are preparing to lead industries being rapidly reshaped by innovation.
This fall, we also introduced the Sports and Entertainment Business minor, which allows students to explore the intersection of business, athletics, and media. We are delighted that Jacqueline Garner has been appointed as the program’s inaugural faculty director. We hope that under her leadership this minor will become one of Tech’s signature interdisciplinary offerings.
Our reach continues to grow globally. Last month, we announced a new partnership with Nutresa, one of Latin America’s largest food companies, led by Georgia Tech alumnus Jaime Gilinski, B.S. Industrial Engineering ’78. This collaboration creates opportunities for Nutresa employees to pursue M.S. and MBA degrees and Executive Education through Scheller.
Sustainability remains another defining area of focus. The Ray C. Anderson Center for Sustainable Business recently released its 2024 – 2025 Annual Report, filled with stories of research, alumni engagement, and collective action. Andre Calmon has been appointed faculty director of the Center that will further advance business solutions for a more equitable and low-carbon future.
Meanwhile, our faculty continue to be distinguished in research and teaching across other areas as well. Dong Liu’s paper “Event System Theory: An Event-Oriented Approach to the Organizational Sciences” received the Academy of Management Review Decade Paper Award for its lasting impact. Five of our faculty — Manpreet Hora, Jerry Liu, Christy O’Neill, Eric Overby, and Tatiana Rudchenko — earned Summer 2025 CIOS Honor Roll recognition for exceptional teaching.
Beyond campus, I had the privilege of representing Scheller at two important forums last month: the Wall Street Journal Technology Council Summit, which explored how AI is reshaping companies, jobs, and strategy, and the Innovations in Undergraduate and Graduate Business Education Conference, where we engaged in dynamic conversations about the future we are building with AI. These experiences reminded me why our pursuit of becoming the world’s most connected, entrepreneurial, and experiential business school matters more than ever.
Looking ahead, there are many opportunities for engagement:
- October 8: We will host Tech Talks Business featuring Kim Greene, chairman, president, and CEO of Georgia Power
- October 16 – 17: Avant South, Atlanta’s conference for technology and innovation, will showcase the energy and creativity of Georgia Tech and our city
- October 24: Homecoming Buzz Bash welcomes all members of our community to gather and celebrate
- November 6: Tech Talks Business x Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts at the TechForward 2.0 MBA Conference
- November 11: We will be on the road in Miami for Scheller in Your City
- November 17: Scheller Career Connections brings together alumni and undergraduate students
I am also truly thrilled about our 5-0 record in football. Please join me in wishing our athletes continued success on the field in addition to their academic pursuits. Until next month’s update, Go Jackets!
Best wishes,
