Dear Scheller Community,

As the fall semester winds down and campus shifts from final presentations to graduation preparations, there is a real sense of momentum in and around Georgia Tech’s Scheller College of Business. November showcased what makes our community special: academic innovation, cultivating meaningful partnerships, and a deep, continuing commitment to student success.

Poets&Quants honored Scheller with its 2025 MBA Best in Class Award for Career Services, citing the Jones MBA Career Center’s consistent record of strong employment outcomes and its high-touch, personalized model. The award underscores how our location in Tech Square and emphasis on experiential learning create a powerful ecosystem for recruiting and career development. It is always gratifying to see the work of our students, faculty, staff, alumni, and employer partners acknowledged on a global stage.

Last month also brought moments of reflection and celebration of scholarly impact. We mourned the loss of Regents’ Professor Emeritus Marie Thursby, a visionary scholar whose work in innovation and entrepreneurship helped shape TI:GER and the Roundtable for Engineering Entrepreneurship Research (REER).  Fittingly, Scheller hosted the 23rd annual REER conference here in Atlanta, honoring her legacy while convening leading researchers from institutions around the world to explore science-based entrepreneurship and AI-driven innovation.

In the same spirit of academic leadership, Regents’ Professor Frank T. Rothaermel received the 2025 Educational Impact Award from the Strategic Management Society for his global contributions to strategic management education through textbooks, cases, and scholarship.  These milestones reflect a long-standing strength of Scheller: research that not only advances theory but also shapes practice.

Our students continue to demonstrate what it means to be tech savvy and business smart in real-world settings with our partners. A recent Marketing Practicum paired Evening MBA students with creative consultancy Creature to explore how AI is reshaping creative industries. Over ten weeks, the student team helped the firm move from asking, “How will AI kill Creature?” to defining a proactive AI strategy that improves efficiency and supports new service offerings.

November also brought developments that will shape our programs and partnerships for years to come. The College welcomed five new members to the Scheller Advisory Board — leaders from banking, manufacturing, entrepreneurship, and capital markets — who will deepen our ties to industry and help guide strategic priorities.  We announced a new Real Estate Development and Finance minor, developed in collaboration with the College of Design, to meet rising demand for talent at the intersection of analytics, sustainability, and the built environment. In addition, Eric Overby was named faculty director of the Denning Technology & Management Program, strengthening one of Georgia Tech’s flagship interdisciplinary offerings.

Beyond Atlanta, Scheller’s reach continues to expand globally. In Medellín, Colombia, faculty and staff continued our partnership with Nutresa leadership for an Executive Foundations Certificate Program tailored to the company’s high-potential leaders.

Back on campus, attendees gathered for the TechForward MBA Conference, organized by our MBA students. Scheller also hosted Tim Mescon from AACSB to workshop ways for our faculty and staff to continue to stay on the cutting edge of business education worldwide. And in a particularly joyful moment, students and alumni joined together to celebrate Diwali at an event hosted by the BAPS Campus Fellowship of Georgia Tech — a wonderful reminder of the vibrancy of our community.

As we look ahead, there is much to celebrate and anticipate. Commencement is just days away, and we look forward to welcoming Tony Kepano, a vice chairman at CBRE, proud Scheller alumnus, and Advisory Board member as our keynote speaker at the Scheller graduation celebration.

Commencement schedule:

We look forward to cheering on our graduates and welcoming families and friends to campus.

  • Tech Talks Business returns on January 28 at 5:30 p.m., featuring Eric Gray, president and CEO of GE Vernova’s Gas Power business.
  • On March 19–20, 2026, Scheller will host the AI and Future of Finance Conference, bringing together leaders from Nasdaq, Zscaler, Snowflake, Bank of America, and other organizations to explore how AI is reshaping markets, risk, and financial infrastructure.

Taken together, these developments show a College that is honoring the contributions of those who built its foundation, investing in the success of current students, and leaning into opportunities that will define the next decades of business education. Thank you for all you do to support this work — whether you are teaching, learning, hiring our students, partnering with our centers, or cheering from afar.

Wishing you a restorative winter break and a joyful holiday season.

Go Jackets!
