Frank T. Rothaermel Honored with 2025 Strategic Management Society Educational Impact Award

The Scheller College of Business proudly celebrates Frank T. Rothaermel, Regents’ Professor and holder of the McDonough Chair, for receiving the 2025 Educational Impact Award from the Strategic Management Society (SMS). This prestigious honor recognizes Rothaermel’s profound influence on the teaching and intellectual development of strategic management across global business schools.

Rothaermel was selected by the SMS Awards & Honors Committee for his exceptional contributions through textbooks, case studies, and teaching tools that have shaped the field. His widely adopted textbook, Strategic Management (7th edition, 2026), has been translated into multiple languages and is used in classrooms around the world. He has authored 70 case studies, with 34 achieving bestseller status through Harvard Business Publishing.

Beyond his teaching materials, Rothaermel’s mentorship and scholarly impact have earned him international acclaim. He has published 40 academic articles and his work has been cited over 25,500 times. Scholar GPS ranks him in the top 0.5% for scholarly impact, and Thomson Reuters named him one of the “world’s most influential scientific minds.”

The SMS, a global organization of over 3,000 members, bridges reflective practice and thoughtful scholarship in strategic management. Rothaermel’s award was presented during the SMS awards ceremony in October, where he was honored alongside other distinguished scholars.
