Scheller in Your City: Roswell

Dear Scheller Community,

June reminded me why our vision of becoming the world’s most connected, entrepreneurial, and experiential business school feels within reach.

The month began with colleagues trading spreadsheets for strikes at Lucky Strike Bowling. This annual staff appreciation event is a highlight of the summer, offering a well-earned pause to thank the team members whose work shapes the Scheller experience each day.

That same sense of connection traveled north later in the month when alumni, students, and friends gathered in Roswell for our latest Scheller in Your City event. Conversations flowed from new ventures to mentorship offers, a clear sign that our network continues to thrive.

Last week, it was wonderful to visit the Georgia Tech-Europe campus in beautiful Metz, France and meet with our Scheller students who are enjoying an enriching experience and building lasting connections there.

Strengthening that network across the Institute, I was honored to chair the search for the inaugural dean of the College of Lifetime Learning and am excited to welcome Dr. William Gaudelli to the Institute. It was a privilege to work alongside the dedicated committee to attract such an accomplished leader to Georgia Tech. I look forward to strengthening the collaboration between Scheller and the College of Lifetime Learning as we meet the needs of learners across every stage of their careers.

This past month also brought a key leadership addition at Scheller. Joseph Arton joined us as executive director of the Jones Career Center. With experience at institutions like Virginia Commonwealth University, University of Virginia, and University of Edinburgh, Joseph’s commitment to helping students build purposeful, fulfilling careers will enhance Scheller’s professional development ecosystem.

That same spirit of purpose guided a group of 19 Georgia Tech students who participated in the Leadership for Social Good Study Abroad Program. These students worked directly with Hungarian nonprofits to co-create solutions to real-world social challenges. Organized by the Institute for Leadership and Social Impact, the program offered students a chance to grow as global citizens and changemakers.

Closer to home, students from across four Georgia Tech colleges came together this spring to explore how technology and teamwork can drive social impact. Guided by Professor Charlotte Alexander, the team used AI and legal data analytics to support the Legal Services Corporation’s efforts to address medical debt litigation — an example of how business education intersects with law and ethics to improve lives.

As we spotlight these impactful student experiences, we are also preparing to welcome a new wave of learners. Admissions is wrapping up across our undergraduate, M.S. Major in Management (both on-campus and new online format), Full-time MBA, Evening MBA, Executive MBA, and Ph.D. programs. Each entering student brings a new perspective, and we look forward to welcoming them and our returning students back to campus next month.

Let’s continue working on our shared vision and leverage the energy a new academic year will bring.

Best wishes,

Anuj Mehrotra
