The Lean Six Sigma Green Belt program is designed for professionals from any industry or background interested in learning how to identify problems, analyze possibilities, and implement solutions for increasing productivity and efficiency in their organizations.

Are There Prerequisites for Lean Six Sigma Green Belt?

The Green Belt training program requires no prior experience in process improvement methodologies. The program provides a full introduction into DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control) principles, a data-driven improvement cycle used for optimizing and stabilizing business processes.

Do You Receive a Certificate for Completing the Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Program?

Students who complete the Green Belt program course and a final process improvement project within a year of the course will receive their certification from the Georgia Tech Scheller College of Business.

One option for completing the process improvement project is through our Lean Six Sigma Green Belt: Certification Project in Panama program, which combines theoretical training with practical, real-world application. Students will work on a project with a sponsoring Panamanian company and receive their Green Belt Certification at the end of the immersive project.

Students who choose to continue their studies and progress to the Black Belt program do not need to complete their Green Belt process improvement project to advance and can complete a Black Belt-level project to earn a Black Belt certification.

One path to Lean Six Sigma certification involves taking the four-day Green Belt course and completing a process improvement project with your organization. You’ll learn the Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control (DMAIC) principles to eliminate waste and maximize efficiency for your organization.

Green Belt Course

Four days total
- Virtual with an in-person option
- Mornings: Synchronous instruction
- Afternoons: Asychronous assignments and exercises

Live virtual with an in-person option
- Classes are taught online at designated times, but you can opt to participate on campus if you choose

Lean Six Sigma Green Belt: Certification Project in Panama

Another path to earning your Lean Six Sigma certification is completing the four-day Green Belt coursework and the required final process improvement project through an immersive trip to Panama. This program is designed to blend rigorous theoretical training with practical, real-world applications to build a solid foundation in the DMAIC methodology.

You and other students in the Green Belt program will travel to Panama to work directly with a sponsoring Panamanian company. You’ll gain an in-depth understanding of the company’s operations and existing processes and participate in collaborative sessions to analyze real-world problems, gaining invaluable hands-on experience as you collaborate on your final process improvement project.

The trip culminates in a certification ceremony, where you will receive your Green Belt certificate.

Green Belt Course Refresher

If you’ve completed our four-day Green Belt course in the past but have not finished your final process improvement project to receive your Green Belt certificate, you must take the refresher course before traveling to Panama. In the refresher course, you'll review the DMAIC methodology. Only the students who have completed the four-day Green Belt course can participate in the refresher course.
