Educational background:
B.S. in Agriscience and Environmental Systems (University of Georgia, 2021)
What is a fun fact about yourself?
I enjoy rollerskating and boxing in my free time.
Describe your commitment to sustainability:
My commitment to sustainability began in high school through an environmental science class and volunteer work in our hydroponic greenhouse. I was awestruck by the concept of sustainable agriculture and its broad implications for environmental health. Unfortunately, this discovery came with the dark reality that our planet is deteriorating – and that humanity is playing a major role in its destruction. However, my teacher always ended her lessons with a reminder: We didn’t have to accept this future, and the key to change lay in our hands. Since then, I’ve made it my mission to become a better environmental steward. In my career, I am eager to explore ways to integrate sustainability more efficiently at the corporate level and within society. My specific area of interest is reducing corporate emissions by researching renewable energy sources and developing efficient methods for carbon sequestration to offset corporate emissions.

What is a fun fact about yourself?
I spontaneously performed “Upside Down” on a stranger’s guitar in Inman Park!
Describe your commitment to sustainability:
Growing up in Colorado’s mountains with a family that spent most of our time outdoors, I learned early on that every choice, no matter how small, has an impact. Because of that, I approach sustainability less as a checklist and more as a mindset I carry into everything I do – not only to protect the environment but also to create healthier habits and better ways of living. Day to day, that looks like hauling loose produce instead of using plastic bags, turning leftovers into four nights of new meals, cracking windows instead of defaulting to AC, or catching myself (and sometimes others) when waste isn’t sorted properly. I think of sustainability as a daily challenge: How can I tweak a routine, shift a habit, or even spark a conversation that gets others to see things differently? That same mindset guides my work. My goal is to design products, programs, and systems that reduce environmental impact, shape behavior, and scale across communities.

Describe your commitment to sustainability:
I have dedicated my career to advancing sustainable packaging. Working as a senior scientist at a global chemical company, I lead projects developing sustainable materials to replace plastics in packaging. My job requires me to understand regulations, policies, and the technology landscape for waste treatment in different regions globally. Therefore, I am very conscious of the waste generated in my daily life and the impact it has on the environment. For example, I try to avoid using paper cups by carrying my own tumbler for coffee. I educate people around me on the “How2Recycle” labels on the back of most packages and encourage them to recycle accordingly. Being aware of the environmental consequences of textile waste, I also prefer thrifting clothes and never purchase fast fashion.

What is a fun fact about yourself?
I enjoy finding eco-friendly ways to explore while traveling. A memorable example is waterbiking the Naples coastline – a quiet, zero-emission, pedal-powered way to see Italy while minimizing disruption to marine life..
Describe your commitment to sustainability:
Before beginning my public health career, I had little exposure to sustainability. I initially felt overwhelmed by the scale of ESG challenges. Public health training encouraged me to reflect on how my own choices (e.g., what I consumed, how I lived, and which companies I supported) impacted sustainability outcomes. Realizing the impact of small changes helped me move from despair to action, and over time, from obligation to passion. To me, being a “Ray C. Anderson of tomorrow” means recognizing that sustainability is an ongoing journey: continuously learning, modeling evolving practices, and having the courage to question “business as usual” in pursuit of solutions that strengthen both communities and the planet.

What is a fun fact about yourself?
I love solving the Rubik’s Cube and have over 15 different types of Rubik’s Cubes varying in size and shape.
Describe your commitment to sustainability:
For me, sustainability goes hand-in-hand with technology as a way to improve everyday life. Whenever I see a system that can be made more efficient or less wasteful, I feel a responsibility to act. For instance, growing up in Singapore, I felt that food waste posed a challenge to both land scarcity and food security, in addition to its impact on energy and resources. Noticing this in my school, I developed a machine learning-based food waste classifier that tracked waste in real time and generated data analytics reports for vendors. Using these insights, vendors adjusted menu options and portion sizes, reducing food waste by 32% for over 5,000 students in just two years. With the support of United World Colleges’ $5,000 GoMakeADifference grant, I led a team of ten to deploy this system in multiple schools across Singapore, scaling its reach through APIs and cloud infrastructure.

I had a startup when I was 15 years old. Also, I have visited over 25 countries (and have worked in four of them: India, China, Netherlands, and the U.S.).
Describe your commitment to sustainability:
For me, sustainability means making choices that have a positive impact on people and places. In my daily life, I reduce waste, avoid single-use plastics, and use public transit or carpool when possible. I also volunteer at Papayago Rescue House (a bird shelter), which gives me a direct way to support the environment. Through the Net Impact - MBA Chapter, I took part in tree-planting activity near Ponce City Market, which was a meaningful way to give back to the local community. In my work, I focus on building technology systems that are efficient and reusable, so they don’t waste resources or need to be rebuilt often. Outside of work, I provide pro-bono consulting to small businesses and thus far have helped three manage challenges, such as high inflation and tariffs, while keeping revenue and foot traffic steady. For me, sustainability is not only about caring for the environment but also about helping communities and businesses adapt and keep moving forward.

What is a fun fact about yourself?
I lived in Iran for a year.
Describe your commitment to sustainability:
Sustainability is something I try to weave into both my personal habits and my career goals. In my day-to-day life, I make small choices that add up, such as walking or using public transit instead of driving, recycling and cutting down on single-use plastics, and being mindful about what I buy. Those small choices keep me grounded in the idea that sustainability isn’t just about big projects; it’s also about consistency. On the professional side, sustainability is at the core of what I want to do long term. My research focuses on sustainable development in real estate and construction. I believe the way we build and design communities has a massive impact on the environment. I’m especially interested in exploring how buildings can generate their own energy and use renewable resources so they contribute more than they consume. Sustainability is the lens I want to apply to every project in my career.

I make personal choices such as using a reusable water bottle, turning off lights when they are not needed, and not letting water run unnecessarily. Small actions such as these can lead to significant outcomes over time. My passion for sustainability also extends into my civil engineering major. As a Floridian, I grew up seeing storms become increasingly frequent and intense. I learned that climate change and global warming are the main causes of these worsening storms. I also discovered that the construction industry is a significant contributor to carbon emission. An architecture track in high school originally sparked my interest in sustainable design. However, I wanted to go beyond design concepts and focus on how sustainability can be applied in real-world projects. This desire inspired me to pursue a degree in civil engineering. In my career, I want to promote sustainable practices and develop solutions that can create a lasting, positive impact on the people and environment.
