Eric Overby, Catherine and Edwin Wahlen Professor of Information Technology Management

Eric Overby is the Catherine and Edwin Wahlen Professor of Information Technology Management and one of the instructors in the new AI for Business Executive Education course. We talked with him to learn more about his background and interest in AI and emerging tech.

Who has had the greatest influence on your career path?
Many people, but Professor Saby Mitra has had a significant influence on me.

When did you start becoming interested in AI and emerging tech? 
When I first started teaching the Analysis of Emerging Technologies course at Georgia Tech in 2008.

What challenges in this industry are you most passionate about? 
Being able to determine content authenticity. 

What is the biggest lesson that you've learned since you started teaching? 
Try to get students engaged as much as possible.  

What advice do you have for prospective students to be successful in the AI for Business course? 
Be curious.

Tell us something about yourself we wouldn't know or guess. 
I volunteer at my kids’ middle school and high school as one of the general managers for basketball, baseball, and ultimate frisbee.
