Leadership Studies Minor
The minor in Leadership Studies is designed to provide students with in-depth knowledge of leadership theory, skills, and practical experience through a rigorous, multi-disciplinary program of study.
There are three tracks in the program:
- Business, offered through the Institute for Leadership and Social Impact at the Scheller College of Business
- Global Engineering, offered through the College of Civil and Environmental Engineering
- Public Policy, offered through the School of Public Policy at the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts

The business track is administered by the ILSI and is open to all majors. The track is designed to provide students with in-depth knowledge of leadership theory, skills, and practical experience through a rigorous, multi-disciplinary program of study. It requires 15 hours of coursework.
Included in the coursework for the business track is a capstone course where students working in small interdisciplinary teams apply their knowledge and skills toward designing a business solution for an organization.
Business Track Information
To be enrolled in the Leadership Minor program, you must have:
- Completed 30 credit hours;
- A cumulative GPA of 2.5 or greater;
- Completed a formal application to the program and have been admitted to the program*
*Minor Addition Forms will only be accepted once you have been admitted into the program

- A maximum of 6 credit hours of Special Topics courses may be included in a minor program or the student may complete 3 credit hours of Special Topics and 3 credit hours of either Special Problems or Undergraduate Research. Students may not use 6 credit hours of either Special Problems or Undergraduate Research for a minor.
- A maximum of 3 credit hours of transfer credit may be used to satisfy the course requirements for a minor. This includes courses taken at another institution or credit earned through the AP or IB program, assuming the scores meet Georgia Tech minimum standards.
- It is the major advisor’s responsibility to verify that students are using only courses from the designated block(s) from the student’s major field of study that are allowed to satisfy a minor program, that they are not using any Core Area A-E courses (including humanities and social sciences), and that they are not using any courses for more than one minor or certificate. Any free elective course used to satisfy the course requirements of the student’s major degree program may also be used to satisfy the course requirements for a minor.

Students must earn a grade of C or higher for any course that is applied to the completion of the requirements for the minor. Overall, a student's GPA for all the minor courses averaged together must be 2.75 or higher.
