When I started my internship with Empact, I did not fully know what to expect. I knew the organization focused on leadership development and supporting managers, but I had not really thought about how much structure and strategy goes into something like brand voice, messaging, and content. Over time, I started to understand that a lot of what Empact does is not just about ideas, but about how those ideas are communicated clearly and consistently to the right audience.

During my internship, my main focus was analyzing Empact’s brand voice, messaging, and content across different materials. This included looking at their website, LinkedIn posts, and other internal and client facing content. I worked to identify patterns in how they communicated, what language they used, and where there were inconsistencies. One of the biggest things I noticed early on was that Empact has a very distinct tone that is supportive, conversational, and grounded in real workplace experiences. At the same time, there were opportunities to make that tone more consistent across all content.

I also spent time reviewing how their content compared to similar organizations. This helped me understand what made Empact stand out and where there were opportunities to improve. For example, I found that while Empact does a great job of connecting with its audience on a personal level, there were moments where content could be stronger by leading with clearer insights before promoting services or events. From this work, I was able to develop several key recommendations that could help strengthen their messaging and overall content strategy.

One of the most meaningful parts of this experience was seeing how my work could actually influence real decisions. I was not just doing research for the sake of it. The insights I developed were used to help guide how content should be structured, what tone should be used, and how Empact could better connect with its different audiences. I also worked on organizing a large set of brand materials, which helped make it easier for the team to find and reuse content. That process showed me how important it is to have systems in place, not just good ideas.

This internship also helped me build skills that I know I will use in the future. I became more comfortable analyzing qualitative information, identifying patterns, and turning those patterns into clear recommendations. I also improved my ability to think about problems from both a strategic and practical perspective. It is one thing to identify an issue, but it is another to suggest something that can actually be implemented.

Looking back, one of the biggest takeaways for me is how much communication shapes the way people understand and engage with an organization. Even small changes in wording or structure can make a big difference in how a message is received. This experience also showed me that I am really interested in roles that combine analysis with strategy, especially when it comes to understanding people and behavior.

Overall, my time at Empact helped me grow both professionally and personally. It gave me a better understanding of how organizations think about communication, systems, and leadership. It also pushed me to be more thoughtful in how I approach problems and present ideas.
