Show Me The World Project (SMTWP) is a national nonprofit based in the greater St. Louis and Kansas City regions that expands access to STEM education, entrepreneurial training, and study abroad opportunities for students from under-resourced communities. Because the organization was founded and continues to operate in St. Louis, it also celebrates 314 Day—an annual celebration highlighting the culture, spirit, and community of the city, named after its area code.
On March 14, SMTWP hosted Stamp the Passport: A Show Me The World Experience, an in-person event designed to celebrate the St. Louis community while showcasing student work and building excitement for an upcoming study abroad trip to Colombia.
At the event, attendees received a “Passport to Colombia” and collected stamps as they moved through interactive stations. Guests learned how to salsa dance, connected with students and shared words of encouragement for their “Future Suitcase,” received student-designed merchandise printed on demand, and captured moments through photos and videos. The event created an immersive and celebratory environment that highlighted both cultural exploration and student achievement.
In my role, I supported the event through marketing and communications efforts leading up to the celebration. In conjunction with a fundraiser-focused email campaign, I regularly met with organization executives, event planning leadership, and the social media team to brainstorm the event theme, develop a content calendar, and create promotional materials to drive ticket sales and awareness for SMTWP’s first-ever 314 Day celebration. I designed promotional emails, social media content, and printed collateral which were used both in advance and throughout the event.
The materials I created helped shape the event experience and communicate its purpose, contributing to a cohesive and engaging celebration of the SMTWP community.
