Jasmine Crowe-Houston, award-winning entrepreneur and founder of Goodr, visited Georgia Tech to meet with the Society of Women in Business (SWIB) for a lunch and learn about entrepreneurship, leadership, and creating meaningful change.
SWIB is dedicated to empowering undergrad Georgia Tech women through community, development, and networking. During the lunch and learn, Crowe-Houston shared lessons from her entrepreneurial journey and answered questions about building a career around their passions. As the founder of Goodr, she has worked to address food waste and food insecurity through technology and logistics, helping businesses redirect surplus food to communities in need.
Students asked about the skills they should begin developing now and how to turn an idea into action. Crowe-Houston discussed some of the biggest challenges entrepreneurs face, including fundraising, building strong teams, navigating internal conflict, and overcoming the fear of failure. She also encouraged students to question established practices and look for better ways to create impact.
One student connected this idea to a quote from Crowe-Houston’s book, Feeding Hope: “We’ve always done this might be the most expensive sentence in the non-profit.” The book combines personal stories with practical advice on building mission-driven businesses, navigating funding challenges, and using technology to address social issues.
For SWIB students, the opportunity to connect with Crowe-Houston in a smaller setting made the conversation especially meaningful.
Having the opportunity to speak with Jasmine in such an intimate setting was so empowering. Her numerous accomplishments over the course of her career speak for themselves, but it’s her courage and steady commitment to pursuing change that makes her such an inspiration to us as young women entering the business world.”
