Scheller College’s first-year Full-time MBA students had the opportunity to hear Executive Chairman of Accenture and Scheller alum, David Rowland, speak on how his experiences have shaped his view of leadership at Scheller’s Re-CHARGE event on January 10, 2020.

Re-CHARGE is a new initiative of CHARGE, a program designed for Scheller’s Full-time MBA students that provides frameworks, strategies and techniques aimed at developing principled leaders. The Re-CHARGE initiative expands students’ leadership development through a day of speakers, workshops, and team-building activities.

As part of his Re-CHARGE presentation, Rowland shared his personal career experiences and views on leadership and advised students on investing in their leadership skills. He also addressed how leadership views and thoughts are formed, what are the most highly-valued leadership traits, and how the world’s rapid evolution will affect being a relevant and effective leader in the future.

He concluded his presentation by delving into items future leaders need to focus on when developing leadership strengths, including employee wellness and building their leadership DNA. Rowland also engaged with the MBA students and answered questions on executive leadership.

In addition to chairing Accenture’s Board of Directors, Rowland is also actively involved in the corporation’s long-term business strategy and represents Accenture to clients and key external groups around the world. Prior to becoming Accenture’s Executive Chairman in September 2019, he served as Interim Chief Executive Officer and CFO for the corporation. Rowland is a member of the Board of Trustees for the Georgia Tech Foundation and the Board of Directors for Covenant House Georgia. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in management from Georgia Tech Scheller College of Business.
