Biography

Professor Mingfeng Lin is Dean's Distinguished Term Professor, Professor of IT Management, and the ITM PhD Program Coordinator at Georgia Tech's Scheller College of Business. He studies financial technologies (FinTech), Business aplications of AI (including Generative AI), online communities and platforms, and labor. His current research interests include:

Impact and business use of Artificial Intelligence, especially Generative AI;
Fintech, including various forms of crowdfunding;
Online labor markets and workforce analytics; and
Online communities and user-generated contents (UGCs).

Professor Mingfeng Lin has published in top‑tier business‑school journals, including Management Science, Information Systems Research, MIS Quarterly, and the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis. He currently serves as an Associate Editor of Management Science and previously held the same role at Information Systems Research (2017 – 2023). He is a Research Fellow at the University of Cambridge’s Centre for Alternative Finance, and a Research Affiliate at the University of California, Santa Cruz’s Center for Analytical Finance. Prior to joining Georgia Tech in the summer of 2018, he was an Associate Professor in the Department of Management Information Systems, Eller College of Management, University of Arizona.
