Making Change

The great thing about attending Georgia Tech is being surrounded by highly motivated and ambitious individuals. The problem with an environment like this is the self-inflicted competitive atmosphere where everyone strives to stand out. Once we achieve our goals, we quickly move on to the next big challenge. When I applied to Tech, I wrote in my essay about my desire to help people and promised to make a real difference. Yet, upon reflection, I realize that my impact extended only to my personal achievements.

My journey with In Good Company has given me the opportunity to break free from that cycle. By working with founders Amanda Shojaee and Sarah Gabriel in creating tangible social impact, I have seen firsthand the difference that genuine passion and collaboration can make. Although I may not have realized initially, each task I undertook directly contributed to making a real change for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, but also gave me the chance to fulfill my promise in cultivating change.

Key Contributions

  1. Automated Resume Generator:

I created a form that automatically generates a professional resume from user-submitted data. This tool streamlined the resume creation process, allowing job seekers to quickly produce polished resumes and improve their job search efficiency.

  1. Automated Call Record Integration:

I worked in developing a script that automatically logs call history into a Google Sheet, extracts the coach’s email from each call, and updates the call record accordingly. This automation streamlined data management and ensured accurate record-keeping.

  1. Video Production and Editing:

I contributed by filming and editing promotional videos for In Good Company. My role involved capturing footage, editing the videos to enhance visual and narrative appeal, and ensuring the final products effectively communicated IGC's mission and initiatives.

  1. Graphic Design and Visual Content Creation:

I created a range of graphics for In Good Company, including case templates, user journey maps, and promotional materials. These visuals were designed to effectively communicate key messages, enhance presentations, and support marketing efforts.

Final Reflections

Contributing to IGC's mission of empowering individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities through a variety of projects, from automation to visual content creation, has reignited my passion for making a meaningful impact in my professional development. Working on these diverse tasks reminded me of the core motivations that initially drove me to pursue a career in this field. Each project not only allowed me to apply my skills in new and impactful ways but also reaffirmed my commitment to using my abilities to support and uplift others. This experience has been a powerful reminder of the importance of aligning my work with my values and has equipped me with practical skills and insights that will be invaluable as I advance in my professional career, ensuring that I continue to contribute to meaningful and socially impactful projects.
