The Business Analytics Club recently sponsored a breakfast panel with Anthem. Four employees from Anthem’s Enterprise Data Analytics Team provided insight about what it’s like to work in analytics in the healthcare industry, then discussed current job and internship opportunities available.

“It was such a great event,” said Business Analytics Center Corporate Engagement Manager Sherri von Behren. “Anthem’s commitment to Georgia Tech is exciting. With their new Innovation Studio and Technology Center right down the street, they have built an internship and career pathway for Georgia Tech business analytics students and graduates. The students really enjoyed meeting Anthem's Enterprise Data Analytics Team today.”

“As a Dual Degree MSA/MBA student at Georgia Tech, I loved learning about the different ways Anthem is using data and machine learning techniques to increase efficiency in health care,” said Marta Gai Brais. “Anthem is not just a health insurance company, it is an innovative and data-driven company that will bring amazing changes to the health care industry.”

Anthem employees and Tech students lingered for more than 45 minutes after the panel, leaving only when the classroom was needed for the next class.

“One of the goals of Business Analytics Club is to expose students to different employers and industries in analytics,” said Business Analytics President June Sloan. “Anthem did a great job explaining the power of analytics to transform healthcare and provided real examples of on-going projects. I think it was a really valuable morning, both for students looking for jobs and internships and for students wanting to learn about analytics in the healthcare industry.”
