The Southeast is quickly becoming one of the most exciting places to be in tech. Cities like Atlanta are leading the charge, attracting big names like Microsoft, Google, Mailchimp, and NCR, and creating incredible momentum in areas like fintech, cybersecurity, healthcare tech, and electric vehicles. With all this growth, the region is drawing in top tech talent and business minds—and it’s clear there’s a growing need for MBAs who can help shape what’s next.
That’s what sparked the creation of the Southeast MBA Tech Summit. What started as an idea from the Scheller MBA Technology Club to connect students with local tech opportunities quickly grew into a multi-school collaboration with Emory University, Vanderbilt University, Duke University, and the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill.
The first-ever summit took place March 28–29, 2025 and brought together more than 100 MBA students from five business schools for two days of engaging, tech-focused programming.
Day 1, hosted at Microsoft’s Atlanta campus, featured breakout sessions on product management, marketing, fintech, strategy, and tech sales. A fan favorite was the Xbox Mini Case Competition, where students reimagined the future of gaming beyond traditional consoles. The day wrapped up with small group dinners at some of Midtown Atlanta’s best restaurants.
Day 2 kept the energy high with panels led by experts from companies like Mercedes-Benz, Amazon, Microsoft, Google, Salesforce, and Workday. Sessions centered around the future of MBAs in tech, the evolution of strategy roles, pivoting with an MBA, and insights summer internships in tech. The summit closed with final presentations from the Xbox Mini Case Competition, where teams pitched their boldest ideas to peers and industry pros.
Throughout the event, students, alumni, and panelists shared honest insights, built new relationships, and laid the groundwork for ongoing collaboration across Southeast MBA programs. The Southeast MBA Tech Summit is just getting started, but it’s already proving how powerful the region’s tech scene can be when driven by collaboration and curiosity.
