The first Impact Lunchtime Talk of the year drew a full house in the Georgia Tech Scheller College of Business and, thanks to the hybrid format, a global audience. The event was co-sponsored with the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts, the Center for Computing and Society, and the Cecil B. Day Center for Business Ethics and featured Frances Haugen, Facebook whistleblower and founder of Beyond the Screen, who left everyone reevaluating their relationship with social media.
Her closing remarks held a compelling call to action:
“For every visible whistleblower, there are thousand quiet whistleblowers. Keep your eyes open and ask questions…you are a vital part of the information immune system of our democracy.”
