For one week each spring, Tech Square’s identity as of one of the nation’s most successful ecosystems of ideation and disruption is on display as part of Tech Square Innovation Week.

Scheller College of Business Dean Maryam Alavi showcased her thought leadership at the ATDC Retail Tech Summit, a gathering of retail executives and innovators to discuss the future of retail and the technologies impacting the industry. Along with Dean Alavi, speakers included Georgia Tech College of Architecture professor Dennis Schelden and presenters from ATDC, Deloitte, and Engage.

Dean Alavi’s presentation covered the integration of technology platforms in the new retail experience, including a discussion of the impacts and outcomes of frictionless exchanges, big data and advanced analytics, and network effects. She remarked, “While general-purpose digital retail platforms will continue to deliver an enhanced consumer experience, innovation with augmented or collaborative digital platforms will allow organizations to better differentiate themselves.”

Scheller College’s unique positioning at the intersection of business and technology was highlighted by the weeklong series of events. Hosted by the neighboring Georgia Institute of Technology Advanced Technology Development Center (ATDC) and its Enterprise Innovation Institute, Tech Square Innovation Week featured workshops, start-up showcases, and presentations highlighting innovation and tech disruption.
