SUSTAIN-X is partnering with The Engine Ventures to sponsor a one-day workshop for Georgia Tech founders and prospective founders working in groundbreaking tech (or “deep tech”) space. The Engine Ventures is a nonprofit incubator and accelerator dedicated to providing early-stage tough tech companies with the critical infrastructure, programs, and ecosystem they need to thrive. The workshop will address the challenges of bringing deep tech to market. Workshop leaders will help founders explore the commercial potential of transformative, or "tough tech" technologies. By the end of the day, participants will have acquired a basic framework to assess whether and when to take the step from academic research to commercialization. The event offers a unique opportunity to connect, learn, and make progress towards business ideas that offer solutions to some of the world’s most pressing challenges.
This workshop is open to principal investigators, postdocs, PhD students, and MBAs from across Georgia Tech.
Takeaways:
- Mitigate the four pillars of risk: Gain a practical framework to identify, understand, and mitigate the four core risks in tough tech ventures: technology, market and customer, regulatory, and scaling.
- Build your startup roadmap: Evaluate when and how your research is ready to move beyond academia and into real-world application. Start shaping strategies for your own “tough tech” startup journey, from concept to commercialization.
- Strategic insights from experts: Access case studies and lessons directly from The Engine Ventures team, who have successfully guided startups tackling some of the world’s most pressing challenges.
- Expand your network: Connect with like-minded researchers, founders, and future collaborators across Georgia Tech.
