Biography

Joe Arton serves as Executive Director of the Jones MBA Career Center. In this role, he leads the strategic direction of career development and employer engagement across the Full-Time MBA, Evening MBA, Executive MBA, and Master of Science in Management (MSMGT) programs.

Joe’s work focuses on helping students navigate complex career decisions with clarity and confidence. He believes the career center should be a trusted partner—not only in securing the next opportunity, but in building long-term professional momentum. Through close collaboration with faculty, alumni, and industry leaders, he works to ensure students have access to the relationships, resources, and experiences that shape meaningful careers.

Prior to joining Georgia Tech, Joe held leadership and teaching roles in both the U.S. and U.K., where he worked across curriculum design, student experience, and workforce development initiatives. His background includes supporting diverse student populations and building cross-sector partnerships that connect academic learning to evolving industry needs.

Research Areas

Curriculum Transformation and Career Readiness

At the University of Edinburgh, my research focused on aligning curriculum transformation with evolving student needs and labor market demands. This included designing learning experiences that better integrate career development, employer engagement, and real-world skill-building across disciplines—ensuring that academic programs are relevant, inclusive, and future-oriented.

Hybrid Education and Experiential Learning

Also at Edinburgh, I examined how hybrid and technology-enhanced learning environments can support more personalized, accessible, and career-relevant education. My work explored how digital platforms can be used not only to deliver content, but to expand access to experiential learning for diverse student populations.

Strategic Alignment of Career Services

At the University of Virginia, my work focused on the strategic alignment of career services with workforce development. I explored how universities can use labor market data, employer insights, and student coaching models to design more adaptive and impactful career ecosystems—bridging the gap between education and employment in ways that serve students, institutions, and industry.
