Biography

Priyank Arora joined the Scheller College of Business in the fall of 2013. He wishes to contribute to management science by working on research problems, particularly in the field of socially-responsible operations and supply chains. Currently, topics related to non-profit operations (e.g. resource allocation, funding), healthcare operations (e.g. organ donation value chain), and sustainable operations pique his interest. His ongoing research efforts focus on unique challenges and strategies associated with socially-responsible operations and supply chains. Online copies of his published and working research papers are available at the bottom of this webpage or, on SSRN website. Priyank’s teaching interests are in core operations/supply chain management concepts and their interrelationships with environmental and societal responsibilities. He currently teaches the core operations management course in the undergraduate program at the Scheller College of Business.

Priyank’s work with Dr. Ravi Subramanian, titled, “Improving Societal Outcomes in the Organ Donation Value Chain,” won the first prize at the 2016 INFORMS Public Sector Operations Research (PSOR) section best paper competition at the INFORMS annual conference in Nashville (November 2016)Priyank received the College of Business’ Ashford Watson Stalnaker Memorial Prize in 2017, which is awarded to recognize PhD students who contribute exemplary scholarship and innovation through outstanding research and teaching. He was also chosen as the Graduate Student Instructor of the Year in 2017. Further, his pedagogical contributions include two HBR case studies: Aahan: Diagnosing Tuberculosis in Rural India, and Moser Baer and OM&T - Choosing a Strategic Partner. The latter case study won top award at the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) Case Writing Competition 2014, in Brussels, Belgium.

Before starting in PhD program, he was working as a Research Associate in the Operations Management Department at Indian School of Business (ISB) in Hyderabad, India. Under the aegis of professors at ISB, he worked on research projects to study the design of supply chains under resource constrained environments - Tuberculosis control program in rural India, and an emerging market social entrepreneurship model. Priyank had also worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Samsung Electronics in Bangalore, India. He was responsible for design and development of Graphical User Interface of Multi-Function Peripherals. In his efforts to strengthen the Intellectual Property of Samsung, he had filed two patents in the digital printing domain.
