Dr. Gopal received her Ph.D. in Finance from the Leonard N. Stern School of Business, New York University in May 2020, where she received the Lawrence G. Goldberg Prize for the Best Dissertation in Financial Intermediation. Prior to the start of her Ph.D., she graduated with a Masters degree in Economics and an undergraduate degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani, India.

Dr. Gopal is an Assistant Professor of Finance at the Scheller College of Business, Georgia Tech. Her research interests lie in financial intermediation and corporate finance. She studies the growth of nonbank financial institutions in the U.S. with a special focus on the role of nonbanks in business lending. Her research has been published in top journals such as the Review of Financial Studies and Management Science. She teaches courses on the Management of Financial Institutions to undergraduates and MBAs at Scheller.
