Chicas’s research spans three overlapping streams: diversity and immigration, intergenerational behavior, and narrative identity. First, he studies immigrants and their descendants, examining how personal and family narratives of sacrifice shape workplace experiences and outcomes. Second, he investigates parent–child dyads to understand how formative early-life episodes carry forward into adulthood and influence career trajectories. Third, he examines how employees construct meaning in their work and lives over time.
His work has been published in Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes and the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology.
