What's something on your bucket list?

A dream of mine is to start my own business. From a young age, I took an interest in fashion. I participated in fashion shows, sewed and DIYed my own clothes, and later studied merchandising and product development. For my capstone project, my best friend and I wrote a business plan for a boutique and envisioned starting a boutique on wheels, like a food truck. We joke about doing this once we hit our midlife crisis. I hope we make it a reality.

What actor would you cast to play yourself in a movie about yourself and why?

Keke Palmer. I have always admired and looked up to her. I related to many of the characters she played in my childhood and carried similar interests such as my spelling bee era after “Akeelah and the Bee.” I especially loved “True Jackson, VP” since I have always been interested in clothing and fashion.

What's your favorite place you've traveled to and why?

Savannah, GA. When I did have the opportunity to travel in my childhood it was either for family events or for dance. We had a family reunion in Savannah one year, and I fell in love with its beauty, the weather (shockingly) and its food. That’s when I decided the Midwest was not for me and that I would eventually move to Georgia when I grew up. Here I am!

What is your proudest accomplishment?

Stepping way out of my comfort zone and participating in the Miss Omega Psi Phi Scholarship Pageant while I was in undergrad. For the talent portion, I danced to a spoken-word poem about labels in society. I wore a label with a phrase I no longer wanted to be defined by and ripped it off at the end of the dance. I won the scholarship, and I was crowned the very first Miss Omega Psi Phi at Missouri State University.

What did you want to be when you were small?

It was different everyday as I was an ambitious child. The most common were teacher, lawyer, and fashion designer. Later forensic scientist but that dream died after I realized I didn’t really like science all that much.

What is your latest book recommendation?

I would 10/10 recommend re-reading the Twilight Saga as an adult. I’m still Team Jacob, but the books hit different when you’ve lived more life and understand more things.

My life story in exactly one sentence:

Kansas City native turned Georgia Peach forever chasing her goals and aspirations as an Enneagram type 3.

My favorite restaurant in Atlanta:

Barcelona Wine Bar

My favorite comfort food or family recipe:

Ice cream, specifically Jeni’s Ice Cream. Even more specifically Honey Vanilla Bean & Strawberry Buttercream
