I am a food science engineer currently working in quality; I'm passionate about global cuisines, travel, and spending time with my dog.
Who most influenced your decision to pursue a M.S. Major in Management degree?
My decision to pursue the program was influenced by my professional experience and my desire to advance my career. I wanted to develop strong leadership and management skills to become a positive influence and an effective manager in the future. Also, the fact that the program is STEM designated was for sure a plus in my decision.
What was your favorite business course and why?
I can definitely say it was Legal and Ethics. It led to really engaging discussions during class about current topics that affect the world today. I enjoyed hearing my classmates share their own work experiences, which made the class more interesting. The professor encouraged open debates and writing our opinions in journals at the end of each class. Overall, the course opened my mind in a very positive way, and I feel that it influenced me on how I'm approaching ethical decision making at my current job.
What advice would you give to an incoming M.S. Major in Management student?
My advice is to enjoy the program; it goes by so fast! Make sure to take full advantage of all the tools and resources the program offers, for me they have been incredibly helpful. In less than a year I have been able to apply many of the strategies I have learned both at work and in my daily life. I am a strong believer that enrolling in the M.S. Major in Management program has been one of the best decisions I’ve made.
What activities were you involved with on or off campus, and did your business education impact those activities in any way?
While leading a team of four at work, my education helped me polish my leadership skills. It improved how I communicate, motivate, and support my team, making me a more confident leader.
What is something unexpected you learned about Scheller College during your time as a student?
What surprised me most about Scheller College was the amazing community and the genuine love students have for the college. The support from both professors and fellow students was incredible, making it a very welcoming and positive environment for learning.
What’s been your favorite memory so far at Scheller?
My favorite memory at Scheller was the filming of the Christmas 2024 video with Buzz. Throwing snowballs at him and spending that time with my friends while the video was being produced was such a fun and memorable experience.
What is the biggest lesson you gained from your Scheller M.S. Major in Management degree?
The biggest lesson I gained was the importance of being a good team player. Understanding people and enjoying what you do are key, as they help you work more effectively and grow both personally and professionally.
What is your proudest accomplishment?
My proudest accomplishement was completing the program while balancing a full-time job. It required a lot of time management and perseverance, and finishing the program successfully gave me a real sense of achievement and confidence in my ability to take on big challenges.
