Scheller MBA Students Travel West for Tech Trek

Before heading home for winter break this past December, 29 Scheller MBA students traveled to the San Francisco Bay Area for the College’s annual West Coast Tech Trek. The group of Full-time and Evening MBA students visited seven tech companies over the two-day trip which was organized by the Jones MBA Career Center for students interested in technology companies.

The students took advantage of their two days on the West coast traveling to downtown San Francisco, Sunnyvale, Santa Clara, and Palo Alto while visiting Walmart Labs, Nvidia, VMware, Yelp, Salesforce, Uber and Autodesk.  The group also hosted two networking receptions to connect with Scheller MBA alums in the Bay Area. More than 20 Scheller alums attended the receptions and shared their experiences and advice with the current students.

“I really enjoyed the West Coast Tech Trek,” said Alai Fernandez, a Full-time MBA student. “I had never been to the West Coast before, so it was exciting to witness the differences in work culture at the different companies. I especially enjoyed visiting companies I wasn’t familiar with, like Nvidia, who showed us their current projects, as well as seeing how the future of technology looks. We were able to meet many alumni from Scheller who are working on amazing projects and I definitely think everyone should go on the Trek.”

“The West Coast Tech Trek is just one example of the sense of community I’ve experienced as a Scheller student,” Evening MBA student, Nik Dragovic said. “It’s inspiring to see alumni not only prosper, but also welcome and support succeeding classes at national leading companies.”

This year’s trip was organized by Career Center Corporate Relations Managers Kevin Stacia, Larry Faskowitz and Kelley Broome and MBA Recruiting Manager, Kerri Nauth.
