Scheller MBA Students and Alumnae Celebrate International Women’s Day at Annual Brunch

In recognition of International Women’s Day, Scheller College women, both current students and alumnae from the Full-time and Evening MBA programs, gathered for an annual celebratory brunch hosted by Scheller MBA alum Jacquelyn Renée Schneider (Evening MBA, 2018). The women came together to connect, share life lessons, and provide support within the Georgia Tech Scheller College community.

“The International Women’s Day MBA Brunch is a way to foster connections and forge new relationships each year for the MBA women and allies in our community,” Schneider said.  “It is also an opportunity to raise awareness through the International Women’s Day theme. This year’s theme was Each for Equal and last year’s theme was Balance for Better. Each person that comes through Scheller becomes a vital member of the community. We are so fortunate to connect with one another during the MBA program and it is imperative to invest in one another at Scheller and continue to nurture those relationships after graduation.”

Approaching graduation from Scheller’s Evening MBA program in December 2018, Schneider realized she would deeply miss going to Scheller every week and interreacting with her fellow classmates. Already preparing for Women’s International Day events at work through her employee resource group, Schneider was inspired to host an annual MBA brunch for Scheller women to come together and celebrate the day.

“For me, hosting the brunch a second year in a row brings about feelings of gratitude and abundance. The event is something we start planning for three months in advance and it is a delightful way to continue serving others. Each guest brings a dish to share. I hand select the rest of the recipes, drinks, and flowers and then we all gather to celebrate how far we have come together and a future that is limitless,” Schneider said.

This year, the group discussed recent and upcoming graduations, new jobs, promotions, engagements, weddings, and new additions to the family.

“One of my favorite aspects of Scheller’s MBA programs is the supportive group of students and alumni across the Full-time, Evening, and Executive programs,” said Abigail Brenller, current first-year Full-time MBA student. “Jacquelyn has been a wonderfully helpful presence in our community, and it was a great experience to get to spend time with so many Yellow Jackets with such diverse experiences.  Even more special was that spouses and partners were invited into the event and dialogue around women’s issues in the workplace.  As the theme of International Women’s Day this year states, ‘Each for Equal!’”
