Scheller College of Business Faculty Beril Toktay Addresses e-Tailing Waste in TechTarget Article

Scheller College of Business professor of Operations Management, Brady Family Chair and faculty director of the Ray C. Anderson Center for Sustainable Business, Beril Toktay was recently quoted in the article “Amazon’s Environmental Impact Delivers Climate Change Concerns” in TechTarget, a digital marketing company with a readership from over 140+ technology-focused websites.

Toktay was sought after for her expertise in sustainable business practices to discuss how Amazon is addressing its packaging and delivery system in light of a growing demand for companies to reduce their carbon footprint. While some feel that Amazon is not taking strides to fight climate change, Toktay states that there’s “no definitive answer whether e-tailing is more or less green than brick-and-mortar options.”  She suggests that the better question to ask is whether e-tailers can show their interest in combating waste and fossil fuel usage by thinking about their environmental footprint and developing strategies to combat changing climate.
