Georgia Tech Scheller MBA Recognized as a Top Consulting Industry Feeder

Poets&Quants just published a list of the top 35 schools in the U.S. and Europe for percentage of consulting industry hires. The Georgia Tech Scheller College of Business Full-time MBA program came in at 16th overall and 3rd among public institutions, with 31% of grads going into the industry at a median base salary of $140,000.

“Scheller students historically are drawn to consulting employers, and, as a former consulting employer myself, I know that consulting employers are drawn to Scheller MBA students,” said David Deiters, executive director of the Jones MBA Career Center and former president of the North Highland Company. Deiters points to three key attributes consulting firms look for in their employees:

  • Consultancies – be they strategy, management and technology, or specialty-focused firms – value employees who are comfortable analyzing data to support decisions.
  • Firms value employees that enjoy engaging with and working with people.
  • Consulting industry employers seek hires that are comfortable in technical environments and in leveraging technology.

“These attributes are a near-perfect description of a typical Scheller MBA student,” Deiters continued. “I know from experience that Scheller MBA students make very good, successful consultants – and our consulting employers are well aware of this.”
