Eric Overby, Associate Professor of Information Technology Management Promoted to Catherine & Edwin Wahlen Professorship

Eric Overby, Information Technology Management Associate Professor, has been appointed to the Catherine & Edwin Wahlen Professorship. He joined Scheller College in 2007.

Eric’s research focuses on how activities and processes that have traditionally been conducted in physical venues are increasingly conducted electronically, and he’s known for two areas of contribution: (1) why some activities and processes are more suitable for migration to electronic (i.e., virtual) environments than others and (2) how the shift from physical to electronic trading affects market efficiency and other outcomes. He has published in Management Science, Information Systems Research, MIS Quarterly, and Journal of MIS.

He has received several research awards, including the inaugural Sandy Slaughter Early Career Award in 2015, and The Linda and Lloyd L. Byars Award for Faculty Research Excellence in 2015.  He teaches at all levels, including the non-degree programs. Eric has also served as an associate editor at Management Science since 2013. He has coordinated the Scheller Faculty Seminar Series since 2014 and also launched the “Reports from the Future Symposium” student competition in which students present about progress towards achieving the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals.
