A View from the Field: MBA Student Jasmine Howard Writes About Financial Assistance Options to Fund Your MBA

In the February 14 article “MBA Field Notes: How to Get Paid to Attend Business School” in Poet’s and Quants magazine, Scheller College of Business second-year MBA student Jasmine Howard examines how students seeking an MBA can afford tuition through scholarship and fellowship opportunities from business schools, organizations, and foundations. She points to her own experience in obtaining funding from the Forte Foundation, a group dedicated to supporting women in business schools as well as her assistantship at Scheller as a Graduate Research Assistant (GRA). She also provides examples of how some of her colleagues gained financial assistance through programs including Management Leaders of Tomorrow (MLT). She discusses the ROI in choosing a business school with a high job placement ranking and looks at external factors to consider such as the cost of living and starting salaries that may be comparable regardless of the school you choose. “Look closely at school employment reports for average salary by functional area, industry, and geography to have a clearer view of your most relevant outcomes. You may find that the MBA grads from pricey M7 programs net the same positions and salaries like the rest of the Top 30 schools for your dream role,” she said.
