Scheller College of Business MBA Students Profiled in Poets & Quants ‘Meet the Class of 2020’

Each year, Poets & Quants selects top business schools to feature for an incoming MBA class profile. For the first time ever, the Scheller College of Business MBA Program was selected, providing an opportunity for members of the incoming class to highlight their life journeys, why they’ve chosen Scheller, their career goals, and more.

“We feel it is Scheller College’s time to shine,” said Katie Lloyd, Executive Director of MBA Admissions, for the ‘Meet the Class of 2020’ feature. “We’re well-positioned to be the MBA program for the 21st century, from practical application, to our position at the intersection of business and technology and emphasis on business analytics. MBA programs worldwide are trying to move this direction, but we’re already there.”

Scheller’s Class of 2020 has arrived from all over the world to study at the intersection of business and technology, such as France’s Mélanie Coissard, who has spent the past four years living internationally. She noted Scheller’s focus on technology and location in midtown Atlanta’s Technology Square district as deciding factors in her decision to study here. She is also enrolled in one of its dual-degree programs, coupling her MBA with studies for a master’s degree in computer science.

Jasmine Howard also chose Scheller, in part, because of its location in Tech Square, and also highlights Scheller’s “best-in-class” Jones MBA Career Center as a reason she relocated to Atlanta to attend. “Our Career Center helps coach each year of graduates to their dream roles with impressive salaries that rival any other elite MBA program,” she said.

West Point graduate Joseph Carothers plans to use his MBA to enhance his role as an Army medical service officer. “Scheller focuses on the application of the materials and not just teaching the concepts. When I return to the Army, I want to be able to quickly and accurately apply lessons learned here to improve Army health care,” he said.

And, Thea Dietrick has high praises for her Scheller cohorts: “These people are all remarkable individuals -- impressive resumes, outstanding careers, and diverse backgrounds. Yet, every single one of them are humble, supportive, and a great friend.”

Scheller’s Class of 2020 boasts stats of diversity: 40% are women; 18% are underrepresented American minorities (URM); and international students make up 15% of the 86-member class.

These diverse and talented MBA students already have demonstrated a high level of engagement both in and out of the classroom. Read the complete article, including full profiles on the students, on the Poets & Quants website.
