Countdown to Commencement: René Meador

As part of our Countdown to Commencement series, we interviewed a few soon-to-be graduates from our undergraduate and MBA programs to learn about their backgrounds, why they chose Scheller College, and what they plan to do after Fall 2018 Commencement.

Meet René Meadors:

René is from Covington, Georgia, and completing her Evening MBA degree. The “business-minded scientist” loves “running, cooking, and music,” and names Arn Rubinoff as her favorite professor during her time in the program.

Why did you choose Scheller College of Business?

I actually work on campus, so Scheller was convenient for me. Plus, its reputation was enough to sell me.

Who was your favorite professor and why?

Arn Rubinoff was my favorite because he is engaging, knowledgeable, really cares about his students, and remembers them!

What was your favorite course and what was the biggest insight you gained about business from it?

Consumer Behavior was my favorite course. I was able to apply my psychology background to business and it was awesome!

As a business student in the heart of Tech Square, how do you think Scheller College embodies the intersection of business and technology?

By promoting innovation, entrepreneurship, and by recruiting faculty that are well-versed in the business and technology sector, Scheller embodies its tagline of being at the “intersection of business and technology.”

What is your best piece advice to an applicant hoping to get into Scheller College?

It’s a commitment – especially when you work full time. Make sure you are up for the challenge.

Who most influenced your decision to pursue business in college?

Colleagues and mentors in my field.

What activities were you involved with on or off campus, and did your business education impact those activities in any way?

Yes! I work a second job in fitness and the marketing classes have really shaped the lens through which I see business now.

“If I hadn’t gone to business school, I would be…”

If I hadn’t gone to business school, I would be in my third year of law school.

What are the top two items on your bucket list?

To travel the world and meet Jack Johnson!

In one sentence, how would you like your peers to remember you?

I’d like to be remembered as someone who was fun, reliable, and smart.
