MBA Student Podcast: Internships at Amazon

If you want to work at Amazon, an MBA from the Scheller College of Business at Georgia Tech can get you there.

In the latest episode of "Why Scheller?", a podcast from Scheller's Full-time MBA program, second year students Declan Nishiyama, Prateek Mittal, and Newton Chan describe how they each landed summer internships with one of the most exciting companies in the modern business world.

The MBA program at Scheller provided special resources to each of this episode's guests to help them get to where they are now. All three attended Amazon's on-campus recruiting session. Two attended Georgia Tech's West Coast Trek, a trip designed to help MBA candidates network with Scheller alumni currently working at high-tech places like Facebook and Microsoft (and, of course, Amazon).

And one even managed to connect with a student in the class ahead of him through Scheller's Peer Mentorship program. That connection proved vital to Declan Nishiyama, a former chemical engineer at Exxon Mobil. His response after learning more from his mentor about working at Amazon? "It sounded exactly like what I wanted to do," Nishiyama says.

In addition to working at Amazon this past summer, all three of this episode's guests participated in the TI:GER program at Scheller. The TI:GER (Technological Innovation: Generating Economic Results) program connects MBA students with Ph.D candidates to help them commercialize the results of their research. From this group, Nishiyama and Chan worked together on a technology called Autorally, which is working to develop autonomous vehicle capabilities.
