Statement On Recent Executive Order Regarding Travel

Dear Scheller College Students, Faculty and Staff,

By now you have heard about the U.S. Administration executive order limiting nationals from seven countries from entering the country for 90 days. For those in our community who are affected, know that we understand your concerns and you have our support.

The Institute is actively trying to gain clarity on the order and remains committed to supporting those in our community impacted by the policies. As President Peterson stated in his message, they will continue to monitor the situation and keep our Georgia Tech community informed as information is available. What we do know is currently posted to www.gatech.edu/travel-visas which will be updated as additional information becomes available from the Federal government and USG.

I would also like to reiterate our core values: Georgia Tech is a welcoming environment with a broad global perspective, and fostering a diverse and inclusive community right within Scheller College as a key component of our 2020 Strategic Plan. Diversity—in all of its forms—is one of our greatest strengths.

Anyone with urgent questions can contact Marisa Atencio, Director of International Student and Scholar Services, at or 404-894-7475.

Sincerely,

Maryam Alavi
