Georgia Tech Scheller College Launching Supply Chain Leader Development Program for Corporate Clients

Due to popular demand, Georgia Tech Scheller College of Business’ Huang Executive Education Center will launch a consortium-based Supply Chain Leader Development Program in spring 2015.

Designed for high-to mid-level directors and managers within companies’ global operations and supply chain areas, the eight-day program will be held in two segments (March 23-26 and April 27-30) from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in Scheller College.

Taught by Scheller’s world-class faculty, participants will gain capabilities immediately applicable to their daily work, including:

  • A holistic understanding of the end-to-end supply chain.
  • Improvement of their strategic, technical, and business competencies.
  • Enhancement of their organizational leadership capabilities.
  • Increased ability to innovatively think and act like supply chain general managers and orchestrators.

The program employs a blended learning approach (case studies, experiential, peer-to-peer, lectures, and team activities) and involves applied/action learning projects.

Through the years, Scheller College’s Huang Executive Education Center has become a destination for companies wanting to achieve excellence in supply chain management. Examples include the customized Supply Chain Strategy & Leadership Forum for The Clorox Company, the Supply Chain Leader Excellence Program for The Coca-Cola Company, and the Supply Chain Excellence Program for the NCR Corporation.

“I am extremely pleased and would highly recommend the Huang Executive Education Center to others,” says Tim Talmadge, senior manager of technical operations for The Coca-Cola Company. “We’ve achieved more than more than $76.7 million in realized value from applied projects by participants since early 2011.”

Operations Management Professor Soumen Ghosh, who is faculty director of non-degree and custom programs for Scheller’s Huang Executive Education Center and academic director of the supply chain programs, says that positive word-of-mouth in the corporate community led to the development of the consortium-based Supply Chain Leader Development Program.

Directors and managers from a number of global companies have already signed up for the inaugural March/April program. “As other companies have discovered what we offer, they’ve wanted to have similar opportunities, so we developed this new program,” Ghosh says. He, along with Brian Jennings, associate dean for Scheller’s Executive Education Programs, collaborated with supply chain leaders from  over a dozen Fortune 500 companies to develop and design the consortium-based progam.

Beyond the core Supply Chain Leader Development Program, Scheller’s Huang Executive Education Center can develop custom modules for interested companies.

The Supply Chain Leader Development Program costs $6,700 per person. But if companies send three to five people, they will save 10 percent ($6,030 per person). If they send six or more people, they will save 20 percent ($5,360 per person).

Tuition includes a welcome event, breakfast, lunch, snacks, classroom material, wireless connectivity, certification, and CEUs (but excludes travel and accommodations).
