Marketing Professor Ajay Kohli Receives Honorary Doctorate

Ajay Kohli, professor of marketing and the Gary T. and Elizabeth R. Jones Chair, recently received an honorary doctorate from the Corvinus University of Budapest, Hungary.

Kohli first visited Corvinus in 2010 as keynote speaker for the 40th anniversary of the university’s Institute of Marketing and Media. Since then, he has contributed to the internationalization of that Institute as well as the Doctoral Program of the Faculty of Business Administration through his course Theory and Its Construction and by consulting with PhD students there.

Kohli, who joined the faculty of Georgia Tech Scheller College of Business in 2008, “has achieved with his outstanding research and publication performance an exceptional and unique reputation within the international marketing community,” according to the Corvinus laudation.

From 2008 and 2011, Kohli served as the editor-in-chief of the premier Journal of Marketing. He is among the 100 most-cited authors in the fields of Business and Economics combined in the last decade, and two of his articles are among the 10 most-cited Journal of Marketing articles of the last quarter of a century.

His research focuses on a variety of topics, including market orientation, customer solutions, market signaling, customer relationships, sales management, brand management, and organizational buying.

Kohli has led numerous executive education seminars in the U.S., Europe, Asia, and Latin America; taught at the undergraduate, MBA, EMBA, and PhD levels; and been recognized several times for teaching excellence.
