Georgia Tech Scheller College of Business will host the inaugural event of the Cecil B. Day Program in Business Ethics on Friday, Oct. 4.

The event, which will include a free lunch and panel discussion on business ethics, will run from noon to 1:15 p.m. It will be held in LeCraw Auditorium of the Scheller College (800 West Peachtree Street) and is open to all members of the Georgia Tech community (RSVP required by Oct. 2 to reserve your lunch).

Scheller College Dean Steve Salbu, holder of the Cecil B. Day Chair in Business Ethics, will discuss the new program's goals.

"The Cecil B. Day Program in Business Ethics supports initiatives and activities that instill in all a desire to act with honor, character, and integrity, as well as the skills to make good ethical decisions," says Salbu, also holder of the Stephen P. Zelnak Chair. "Our goal is to develop the highest ethical standards in our community, both through the curriculum and through various kinds of extracurricular offerings, which will be introduced in succession over the first couple of years of the program."

The panel discussion will include alumni Seletha Butler, MBA 2010, assistant professor of law and ethics at Scheller College; Kathie Day, IM 1978, owner of Kathleen Day and Associates; Peyton Day, IM 1983, chairman and CEO of Day Hospitality Group; Marion Glover, IM 1965, president and CEO of Glover Capital; and Dennis James, IM 1992, CEO of International Media Technologies.

Cecil B. Day, for whom the new Program in Business Ethics is named, was founder of Days Inns of America. He died in 1978. Since then, his widow, Deen Day Sanders, has supported numerous worthwhile causes via the Cecil B. Day Foundation and Cecil B. Day Investment Company.
