IMPACT Series to Feature Open Invention Network CEO on Sept. 28

Keith Bergelt, CEO of the Open Invention Network, will discuss "Changes in the Innovation Landscape in an Open Source World" at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 28 in the IMPACT Speaker Series.

Bergelt's lecture, which is free and open to the public, will be held in LeCraw Auditorium of the College of Management building (800 West Peachtree Street).

Organized by Georgia Tech's Institute for Leadership and Entrepreneurship, the weekly IMPACT Speaker Series brings notable business executives, high-tech entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, and intellectual leaders to the College.

Bergelt's organization, the Open Invention Network, is a collaborative enterprise that enables innovation in open source and an increasingly vibrant ecosystem around Linux. Central to the achievement of the network's goals is the acquisition and transfer of patent rights, allowing permit members of the Linux ecosystem to operate free of the threat of assertion and litigation from those whose business models are antithetical to innovation and global economic growth in information technology and computing.

Prior to joining the Open Invention Network, Bergelt served as president and CEO of two hedge funds, Paradox Capital and IPI, which were formed to unlock the considerable asset value of patents, trademarks and copyrights in middle market companies.

During fall 2011, other speakers in the IMPACT series will include Bill Rogers, president and CEO of SunTrust Banks; and Paul Raines, CEO of Gamestop. For the full lineup, visit the IMPACT Website
