Please join distinguished alum Rod Westmoreland (IMGT '74) and members of the Westmoreland Group for a roundtable discussion on the implications of Covid-19 for financial markets and investing. In 2020, Rod Westmoreland was selected as one of Barron’s America’s Top 100 Financial Advisors for the 13th consecutive year. Moreover, The Westmoreland group was selected as the #3 Private Wealth Management Team in the country by Barron’s. The roundtable will be moderated by Scheller finance professor Jonathan Clarke.

Jonathan Clarke is an Associate Professor of Finance in the College of Business. He received his PhD from the Katz Graduate School of Business at the University of Pittsburgh. His undergraduate degrees are in Mathematics and Economics from Indiana University in Bloomington.

Dr. Clarke's work has been published in the Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, Management Science, the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, the Journal of Business, the Journal of Banking and Finance, Annals of Finance, Journal of Empirical Finance, and the Journal of Corporate Finance. His paper titled "Long-Run Performance And Insider Trading In Completed And Canceled Seasoned Equity Offerings" won the 2001 William F. Sharpe award for best published paper in the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis.

Hugh started at Merrill Lynch in 1998 and, shortly after, joined the Westmoreland Group as a member of the newly minted Private Banking and Investment Group. As a team partner, he spearheads the Westmoreland group’s effort in serving business owning families.

In addition to delivering a formidable range of capabilities and resources within the Private Bank, he also manages the Private Sales program for the team. In this capacity, he coordinates with Merrill Lynch’s middle-market advisory group as well as external partners to deliver wide ranging investment banking solutions to business owners. Whether its arranging a business sale, merger, acquisition, ESOP solution or recapitalization services, Hugh can marshal the resources necessary to implement a process driven approach to meeting business owners’ evolving needs. 

Hugh also serves on the Westmoreland Group Investment Committee where he leverages his Certified Investment Management Analyst® designation. As a CIMA® designee, he provides objective investment advice and guidance to both individuals and institutions. The CIMA® professional integrates a complex body of investment knowledge and applies it systemically and ethically to assist clients in making prudent investment decisions. He is a member of the Investments & Wealth Institute (The Institute).

Joseph Schager, CFA, CAIA

Assistant Vice President - Private Wealth Analyst, Investments

Joseph joined Merrill Lynch and the Westmoreland Group in 2016. In his role as a Private Wealth Analyst Investments, Joseph models investment strategies, researches individual investments, customizes client portfolios, and assists in business development activities. Joseph also serves on the Westmoreland Group Investment Committee.

Prior to joining the Westmoreland Group, Joseph worked as a Private Wealth Advisor with Goldman Sachs. He also has experience managing operations for a family-owned manufacturing business. Joseph served in the United States Marine Corps as a Logistics Officer including a combat deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
