Glenn Lurie presents "Creating Competitive Advantage Through Business Analytics".

On March 25, 2016 the President and CEO of AT&T Mobility and Consumer Operations, Glenn Lurie, led an intriguing discussion at the Business Analytics Forum 2016. The presentation focused on creating competitive advantage through business analytics. Community and business leaders, along with students, gathered at the Business Analytics Forum 2016, hosted by the Scheller College’s Business Analytics Center.

Mr. Lurie was joined by several thought leaders in the industry, including:

  • Maryam Alavi, Dean of the Scheller College of Business and Steven P. Zelnak Jr. Chair, Georgia Institute of Technology
  • Arnab Gupta, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Opera Solutions
  • Kristian Hammond, Chief Scientist, Narrative Science
  • Keith Jackson, Vice President, Human Resources, AT&T
  • Mark Jackson, Director of Business Intelligence, Piedmont Healthcare
  • Saby Mitra, Senior Associate Dean of Programs and Professor of Information Technology Management in the Scheller College of Business, Georgia Institute of Technology
  • John Stasko, Professor in the School of Interactive Computing in the College of Computing and Director of the Information Interfaces Research Group, Georgia Institute of Technology
  • Alex Vayner, Vice President of Data Science Innovation, Equifax

Graduate students participated in a poster competition, and the forum included morning and afternoon sessions focused on Business Intelligence Solutions and Advanced Analytics and Modeling:

  • Data, data, everywhere. Now what? Getting started with data visualization
  • Turning business opportunities into solvable analytics questions
  • Finding your key metrics and leveraging data to reach business goals
  • How advanced data science and machine learning can help unleash human potential
  • Managing inconsistencies in business intelligence and reporting
  • Using artificial intelligence to provide personalized customer service
  • Overcoming analytics staffing challenges
