Multiple teams will present their business concepts on Thursday, Feb. 28 during the Georgia Tech Business Plan Competition Reception.
The event, to be held from 6 to 8 p.m. in the atrium of the Scheller College of Business building (800 West Peachtree Street), will include a number of specialty competitions as teams compete on the way to the semifinals on March 1 and finals on March 8. A total of $23,000 in cash prizes and $35,000 in service packages will be awarded during stages of the competition.
The reception/specialty competition event on Feb. 28 is open to the public. Guests can view poster displays and product demonstrations while enjoying complimentary hors d'oeuvres and drinks.
Specialty awards judged on Feb. 28 will include the UL GREENGUARD Sustainability Award, Best Elevator Pitch, Best Product Showcase, Best Undergraduate Venture, and the BPC Alumni Award (judged by past winners).
The Georgia Tech Business Plan Competition, organized by the Institute for Leadership and Entrepreneurship, is open to all graduate and undergraduate students as well as recent alumni.
More than 100 members of the community have volunteered to participate as competition judges, team mentors, or workshop speakers. Starting in the fall, a series of workshops has helped contestants prepare for the competition, covering such topics as intellectual property, entrepreneurial marketing, and finance.
